He began his career in the Metropolitan Police Service and became the Met's Director of Training and Development responsible for what was the world's largest police training and development agency. On the way he became the person to take two separate organisations to Investors in People status. He then became a Senior Civil Servant working in both the Home Office and Ministry of Justice where he was responsible for strategic HR across the National Probation Service. He wrote the first national people management strategy that was considered 'best in class' in a report for the British Government. Before leaving the Civil Service he wrote a model of OD for the new Probation Trusts that received much acclaim. He lectures extensively on leadership and the management of change. Since becoming a managing consultant in Oxford Strategic Consulting he has managed a major project to design tailored HR policies and procedures and has most recently led a project with one of Saudi Arabia's largest family businesses. He has a MA in HRM and a Doctorate in Management and Leadership Development.
